Phones, boots, and birds

Saturday marked the approximate end of our Alltel contract, so we headed to the Alltel store to renew our contract and pick out new phones...yippee! When the salesman asked us if we wanted to recycle our old phones, presumably for aiding displaced widows in Afghanistan or orphans in Darfur, we made the responsible, humanitarian choice and gave the old phones to our spoiled children :).
Based on their glee-ful reaction, it may have been the best day of their short lives..seriously. M and S emerged from the store "talking" on their phones, making jokes, laughing, closing the conversation with "bye-bye" and then placing the phones in their pants pocket. Since then, we've obliged the boys' new obsession by charging the phones so they still beep, ring, and light up. I imagine the novelty will wear off, but for now, they don't go anywhere without their beloved cell phones.

Brand new rainboots, waiting for the snow to turn to slush for puddle-jumping.
Mysterious tracks on our front porch. What kind of animal makes these tracks? A rabbit? Guesses, please.

I hung a birdfeeder on our front porch. Matt innocently questioned the front porch placement. I assured him it would be fine. Smiggy and I had a great time watching the finches find our feeder.

Turns out, finches are messy eaters. Matt was indeed correct about the front porch placement - an entry way and hungry birds don't mix well. Above, Smigg-a-billy is thinking, "Oh, Mama. If only you would've listened to Dada."As predicted, we received a dump of Spring snow. I outfitted the boys with snowpants and shovels and sent them outside. Mason is wielding Matt's avalanche shovel - the perfect size and weight for an almost-two-year-old.

Smith, wielding a much larger, much heavier shovel.
S using his sand toys to enjoy the snow.
M giving the "thumbs-up" to forced child-labor.
My little snow-bunny,Smith, obliging my request to see his tongue.

Yay for new pics and posts! Thank you, thank you.
1.Cute boots.
2.Who uses your front entrance anyways?
3.Child labor is perfectly fine as long as you spoil them with old cell phones.

I can just imagine the boys talking gibberish to each other on their cell phones, too cute.

I'm guessing the tracks are from a three legged cat. Remember that weird three legged cat "tripod" that lived at faith chapel for a while. He hung out near the kids hall entrance. It was so weird...

I love the phone story. And I will use the front entrance, so keep them birds away from me...I am not a big fan of birds, just in case you didn't know. They are messy.
Love Laurie

peter thinks they are rabbit tracks and we googled rabbit tracks and it seems they are pretty close. i am disappointed it isn't something more exciting.

I think they are baby rabbit tracks. Or maybe baby monkey to go with you and your other monkeys, shoveling that enormous driveway by hand.

Next time, use the sand shovel, monkey!

I love those boys. Don't forget to tuck pants INTO the boots. Blake's legs are chapped all to pieces from his rain boots. It's sad, and then we cry because I have to make them sting with lotion.

Lane and Addie, thank you for playing my game! Both definitions were quite witty.

Hannah, totally remember the cat and the controversy surrounding his disappearance. Hopefully, it's not him limping across my entryway...spooky.

Laurie, just give Mason or Smith a call on his cell phone and one of them will protect you from the birds at our entryway. :)

reese just be careful because i'm fairly positive that the boys can still call 911 on those cellphones even though there is no "service". that would be a funny story...after all the mayhem died down of course :)
