Quickie

Makeover Monday: Let There Be (Attractive) Light!

Today's makeovers are quick and easy. Like 15 minutes, spray paint, and masking tape easy.

Before.

I purchased this lamp from KMart. I liked the look of it much better at the store than when I brought it home. Kinda blah. Yellow spray paint to the rescue!

After!
I'm really into yellow these days. So sunny and bright. When thrifting, I am always on the lookout for lamps with a nice shape. Brass, glass, wood, whatever - it can all be spray-painted. Shades are another matter. I've yet to find an easy makeover for shades.

Before.
Ahh, yes, another silver floor lamp with a white shade. Who doesn't have one of these? This one's from Target. It's boring and slightly wonky. No matter how many times I adjust it, it always appears to be leaning one way or another. Anyhoo...

After!
I used brown double-fold bias tape (binding) to add some interest to the shade. Ribbon would also work very nicely. The best part about this project? I used masking tape to secure the ends of the binding. Awesome.

Happy Monday to you!

That is such a cute picture of the three of you. YOu are so very talented. I can't get anything done around here, and look at you, something new every Monday.

Hans broke your lamp sort of, and I was not looking forward to telling you. BUT since I see you are so handy I bet you could mend it, the wire of the shade comes out of it's little holder.
Everything else is fine, the glass, the bulb, the cord, the shade. i hope your recent Lamp Success will soften this blow? Hurray for you!
