Makeover Monday

Good Monday to you! Happy 'Ides of March' Eve!

I have been on the lookout for some sort of book storage for our den (the room off the kitchen with the piano). It's a small room and a bookcase wouldn't fit well. Besides, we have a large, built-in bookcase in the living room. I needed something to hold the 5-10 books we read the most/borrowed from the library. Up to this point, they would lie haphazardly about the room, on the arm of the loveseat, and under the rocking chair.

On a recent thrift store outing, in the midst of carrying a large chair to the cash register, I spotted this little gem:

Only $3! I bought it, of course.
It has good bones, is not too ornate, and is somewhat portable. However, me-no-likey-the-brass.

That very day, I wiped it down, took it outside and spray-painted it eggshell blue.

Aaaaah. So much better.

Saw-dog likes it too...that is, he likes to push it all around the house.

It completes the cozy reading nook nicely.

Oma Becky, Kale's grammie, made superhero capes for all the boys. The monkeys don't call them capes...they call them "superhero". "Mom, can you please help me put on my superhero?"

Hope you have a 'super' day!

You're my superhero. Can I go thrifting with you next time you go? Pretty please?!

Ah the velcro in the front is a nice touch, I remember my cape was just a hole in the corner of my Sesame Street blanket, and I would often choke. It taught me a lot about spacial reasoning and cause and effect, however!

Could you PLEASE make the boys wear the capes ALWAYS? I will then be able to tell who is who... PS Aubyn ...you crack me up!

I love your ability to see something that looks plain and turn it into something super cute. You are very creative. Thanks for the inspiration!
