Makeover Monday

Hello, Monday. I have a quick little makeover for you today as a Valentine's Day treat for your eyes. :)

This is the scene at our back door.

We use the back door as our primary entrance...for ourselves and guests. Yikes. Not a welcoming site. And truth be told, I forgot to take a real 'before' shot, and this one was taken after I'd cleaned up the coats/mittens/hats/misc. We have so. many. coats: raincoats, sherpa coats, vests, puffy coats, wind-jackets. There are five people under this roof and a hundred coats.

And then there are the shoes: snow boots, rain boots, sneakers, sandals, running shoes, flats, dress boots...all piled up at the back door, regardless of the season.

Lastly, let me address the coat hook/shelf. Look closely and you will see a curtain rod resting atop 3 of the hooks. Why? Who knows! On top of the shelf is a BB gun. Why? Who knows! This strange arrangement of coats, curtain rod, and gun have been a mainstay at our home for years. Years. There is also a neon green utility knife and some blue tissue paper. Oi. A change-is-a-comin'...
After.
I put the curtain rod, gun, knife and tissue paper in their proper places. I sorted the hundred coats and shoes and put away the many that are not needed this season. I corralled the mittens/hats/scarves in the camo backpack. The basket and canvas bag hold M's and S's coats and snow gear - easily accessible for monkey hands. And, the best part, I placed two newly framed prints in the gun's stead.

Here's a closer look at the prints. You can find them here, along with the artist's other cool stuff.
I feel so much better about the entrance to my home. Stop by some time, please, and check it out. We'd love to have you!

Seriously. Come spend a week at my house please... no monkies, just girls, decorating, wine, coffee and lots of sleeping in. Think we can arrange it?

very nice!
I also think if you developed the boot picture that is on the top of your blog in a sepia or black and white, that it would make a great framed picture!!
