Makeovers Inspired by S

Phew! When I promised to provide a new makeover project every Monday, I didn't realize how quickly each Monday would arrive. It's an ambitious endeavor, no doubt, helping me to accomplish projects I have been thinking about and planning for months (years, for some).

Today's makeovers (yes, there are two!) were inspired by and completed for my little man Sawyer. Being the third boy in the Schuyler clan, Sawyer's wardrobe is 99% hand-me-down clothes. He doesn't mind a bit - but his mama thought he needed some britches that were 100% new and his very own.

Before.

I used mostly fabric I had on hand - a wonderfully soft pillowcase, a bit of linen, and miscellaneous scraps. I borrowed this book from Naomi and used the "Quick Change Trousers" pattern to make these pants for my SoyBoy!

After.
These trousers are not only super cute, they are also reversible. I cannot, in fact, show you the other side of the pants because they are smeared with jelly, hummus, and whatever else he ate that day. No problem, just turn 'em inside out and he has a clean pair of pants. Beautiful.

We have 3 bedrooms in our cozy little home...we also have 3 children. Matt and I sleep in the master bedroom, of course, Mason and Smith share a room, and the baby's room is also the guest room. Basically, Sawyer gets a small corner of the small room for his crib and clothes/diapers/misc. He doesn't mind a bit - but his mama thought he needed a little something to spiff up his corner.

Before.
Pretty 'blah' as is. I wanted to put something up on the wall but I was reluctant to hang anything that could come crashing down on my baby's head whilst he slept or, more likely, while he was pounding on the walls with his chubby little fists, protesting sleep. TJ Maxx provided the best solution...vinyl wall adhesives!

In progress.

After!

This makes me so happy! It was surprisingly easy - I completed it in about an hour. Each leaf and branch is a separate re-positionable adhesive. If I wasn't happy with how it was looking I could just move something or start over. I found similar products here but not the same design.

Now Sawyer has his own cozy 'nest' and his mama can rest easy knowing his decor won't fall on him.

Happy Monday to you!

So. Stinking. Cute.

What other mother of three thinks, "My son needs new pants. I'd rather not go to the store, I think I'll just use these incredibly attractive fabric swatches to craft him new ones!"?? Seriously.

Incredible.
