October and such

October! Yes, it's come and almost gone. We've had a marvelous October here in Bozeman, sunny skies, highs in the 60s and 70s (!), and virtually no snow. (This time last year, we had already experienced frigid temperatures and much snow.) So many days spent enjoying our backyard and nearby parks with friends...we felt our summer extended a bit.

October is the (glorious) month of my birth. I turned 29 and am now on the cusp 30. Weird. To the monkeys, birthdays = cake. Not wanting to make my own cake, and not wanting to eat a cake made by sweet husband, I bought two tasty cupcakes from a local bakery. Very tasty.
Birthdays are infinitely more fun with children. All holidays, really. Matt treated me to sushi for my birthday dinner and then I met up with my friends at a local wine bar for cocktails. It was a good day.

Sawyer enjoyed a piece of toast with Nutella for breakfast. He liked it. A lot.

The weekend following my birthday, Rebecca, Naomi, and I stole away for a long weekend in Salt Lake City. Did I mention we left our children (8 children between the 3 of us!) in the care of our husbands? Yes, four fantastic days where we only had to care for ourselves. We talked, read, shopped, ate well, shopped, exercised, talked some more, and shopped again. We had a grand time...and so did our husbands, which means we can do it again! :)

While I was in SLC, Matt took the boys to get ski passes. Ski passes at 3.5 years old. Crazy, I know, but at $5 a piece, it's a no-brainer. Ski equipment is another story.

Makeover Fail. :)
Sawyer was able to reach the leafy branch I adhered to his wall. You can see the remains dangling over the side of the crib. I was relieved to find that he hadn't eaten any of the vinyl leaves. After a good hearty laugh, I put the tangled mess in the garbage and started thinking about something else to adorn that half of the wall.

I hope to have at least one picture of my crew in their Halloween costumes. The older two will be going as bow-hunters, of course, and Soybean will be a giraffe. Here's hoping I can get all of them in one picture, eyes open, and smiling. Ha! Look for it Monday, along with another project for Makeover Monday!

Happy Halloween!

I was wondering about that leafy branch...

So glad you got to do Salt Lake! And your posts remind me to take more pictures. The ones I draw aren't QUITE up to snuff. But close!

Eight kids between the three of you?!? Yeesh. Glad you were able to spend some quality time with your gals. I don't know what I'd do without my ladies. Happy birthday!

Good luck with the skiers! What a season it will be for the Schuylers!

Look at those shopping bags! When Naomi first told me about your trip I don't know who was more excited...me or her! How fun and glad the kiddos and husbands enjoyed themselves as well!

Too bad about your pretty branch but, good that he didn't eat it. Birthdays ARE more fun with kids and trips with the girls are waaay more fun WITHOUT them:) glad you had fun!
