Not the lipstick and mascara type makeovers - I'm really no good at those - but the sandpaper and spray paint makeovers. Starting today and every Monday henceforth, you, my dear readers, can look forward to a "before" and "after" photo and brief narrative on some object I've transformed to use or give away.
I am really looking forward to Makeover Mondays - it will serve as a reminder that while Mama is a very significant role I play, it is not my only role. I am Wife, Sister, Friend, Daughter, of course, but also, Seamstress, Spray-Painter, Krazy-Gluer and Re-Purposer, to name a few.
Okay, you get the idea. So, without further ado...
Makeover Monday:: Humble Hooter to Ornate Owl
This little guy was gifted to me by Lane. I believe she picked it up at a garage sale in Astoria to adorn our Hoot Inn. He contained a wood spoon and some remnants of potting soil. Not sure what his intended purpose was/is. In his original state, he is kinda shabby-chic and earthy-cute. However, after seeing this and this, I grabbed a can of pearly white spray paint (that I had under my kitchen sink, of all places) and gave him a makeover. Drum-roll, please...
I really love how he turned out...so much so, that he'll be staying in the house and not in the camper. In his current perch, he is within the reach of little hands and unlike my owl, that is not wise (I should add Pun-er to my list of roles...tee hee).
If you are curious (I was), go here to see why owls are considered wise. Happy Makeover Monday to you!
